1 Nephi 3:19-20

" And behold, it is wisdom in God that we should obtain these records, that we may preserve unto our children the language of our fathers;

And also that we may preserve unto them the words which have been spoken by the mouth of all the holy prophets, which have been delivered unto them by the Spirit and power of God, since the world began, even down unto this present day."

The "records" or Scriptures were SO IMPORTANT to the Lord that he was willing to send Nephi and his brothers into harms way to protect them and keep them safe, and not only the scriptures but the record of geneaology for their family. How much do I honor the scriptures and the geneaology of my family? Do I treat the scriptures with respect? Do I honor my geneology or the geneaology of my husband's family by doing it? Wow, something I need to work on :)
