I recently went to a 5-Stake Women's conference where Sister Beck (the General Relief Society President) and Sister Cook (the General Young Womens President) came to speak to the Sisters both young and old. I received so many spiritual impressions during that meeting...or as Nephi would say "...as I sat pondering in mine heart I was caught away in the Spirit of the Lord".
One of those impressions was actually Counsel from Sister Cook to "Read the Book of Mormon for just 5 minutes EVERYDAY!" Now I've always LOVED to read since I was little and love to read to my little Chandani everyday, but somehow I could "never" find the time to open my scriptures and especially not daily. I had feedings, diaper changes, bathes, naptimes, storytimes, singing times, mounds of laundry, meals to make, dishes to wash...who had the time to sit down and read the scritures daily?! I've heard all of my life to "read the scriptures", "read the Book of Mormon daily", "read a chapter a day"and it never came to pass (LOL) ...but for some reason the words "5 minutes" really caught my attention. 5 Minutes...really? I can make instant rice in 5 minutes! I CAN DO 5 MINTUES:) So I set my goal! I will read for 5 minutes everyday from the Book of Mormon, from start to finish and it doesn't matter if it's the morning or the night because I can spare 5 minutes a day.
Then suddenly the most miraculous thing happened...I started reading them EVERYDAY and not only reading them, but ENJOYING THEM like I have never enjoyed them before. I was interested in them, enthralled by the stories and loving every minute of them. I was no longer trying to quickly read them every morning before my busy day began. I wasn't falling asleep in them late at night, not remembering a single thing I had read. I wasn't even angrily trying to fit them in during a brief catnap or play session... because it was ONLY 5 MINUTES!
It was finally then that Spiritual Promptings and Insight began pouring out of me!!! I was relating the stories to me and seeing how they enhanced my life like never before. I began jotting down these impressions as I read and then it hit me... MAKE A JOURNAL... and better yet make an online journal to share with others who are delving into the scritures or even "wanting to" and poof... the Book of Mormon Journal was born! I hope my post will be both uplifting and inspiring to anyone who reads them. They are just "impressions" I had and my own interpretation as I've read so feel free to leave your own impression or insight in a comment and we can uplift and inspire each other!
